Many people living in South Africa have opted to live in townhouse complexes or estates. Most of the larger estates are either Sectional Title developments or Home Owners Associations (HOA) with a Board of elected Trustees. The Body Corporate or HOA normally have a contract with a Managing Agent to act on their behalf in terms of the financial management of the complex.
However, what generally happens is the Trustees are left to deal with the day to day issues that are fairly common in most estates. When one considers that the Trustees are not salaried employees of the Body Corporate or HOA, but rather people who offer their time to make decisions on behalf of the respective bodies, it is understandable that they are unlikely to want to deal with complaints or requests from residents on a daily basis.
REM provides a service that compliments the Managing Agents’ function by assisting the Trustees with the day to day running of an estate. This results in a hassle free environment for the Trustees to act more effectively on behalf of their respective Body Corporate or Home Owners associations.

Depending on the requirements or need of each individual complex or estate, REM will provide an Estate Manager supported by an administration office, to provide all or certain services to the Trustees and the Body Corporate.
In addition to the Estate Manager, REM provides an interactive web-site, the REM System©, together with a Help Line between 8.30am and 4.00pm Mondays to Thursdays and 8.30am until 3.00pm on Fridays, to assist residents and owners with day to day queries.
